If you’re in Dapitan City, don’t forget to drop by St. James Church, in front you will find the Mindanao Map made by our very own Dr. Jose P. Rizal when he was exiled from Manila (July 17, 1892 to July 31, 1896)
This was taken June 2008, after we visited Dakak Park and Beach Resort. A giant relief map of Mindanao roughly 900 sq. Meter area with the assistance of Father Francisco de Paula Sanchez, S.J., it was intended as a motivating device for teaching history and geography to the town folks and as well as an effort for the beautification of the Park.
How to get there:
There are 2 ways getting there by plane
- .Take a flight to Zamboanga City then a take bus to Dapitan City
- Take a flight to Dipolog City then take a bus to Dapitan City
In my case, since I’m born and raised in Zamboanga City, we chose the bus ride (ceres) to Dipolog for 8 hours, and just hired a motorcycle driver to tour us around Dapitan City.
