Dumaguete is the main seaport and capital of Negros Oriental, a province located at the southwestern part of the Visayas Group of Islands in the Philippines. Unfortunately, We were not able to explore the places of interest in Dumaguete because we only stayed there for 2 days and one night. One whole day was entirely for Bais dolphin watching and Manjuyod sandbar.
We stayed at Hotel Palwa, and I personally recommend this hotel for its affordable rate and location. Free wifi, spacious room, 32" led tv and clean. They have a little resto just beside the front desk. We had coffee and croissants or bread at the resto each morning.
We opted for more adventurous walk around Dumaguete although there were tricycles and jeepneys. It was exhausting but we enjoyed it a lot.
The points of interest where we went to are the following:
- Dumaguete Belfry
- St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral
- Rizal Boulevard
Dumaguete Belfry
The oldest bell tower in the Visayas and is a very famous architectural landmark in the city
St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral
Spot me!!! at St. Catherine Cathedral
The largest church in the city. The church is a grandiose display of traditional European architecture.Rizal Boulevard – One of the cleanest beachfront promenades I’ve been to. It also provides quite a refreshing and calming view when dining or having a drink at one of the many restaurants or bars lining the street.
