How to get to Zamboanga National Museum

Fort Pilar and Museum

Fort Pilar is a solid and squat building partially and sympathetically restored. Inside in the museum with several impressive galleries an exhibition of 18th and 19th century’s prints and contemporary paintings and another with drawings of the churches in around in the country.

This National Museum is housed inside the Fort Pilar, It has record of inhabitants and antique items of the early time. It also exhibits paintings, natural marine life, cultural memorabilia and artifacts.

How to get there:
It is located at Pilar Street, about a kilometer from the city hall, just across Paseo del Mar.
From the airport it's either you'll take a jeepney ride or tricycle (these are the main public transpo in the city).

Jeepney, take the Canelar Airport route; you can wait for it just outside the airport checkpoint. Then tell the driver to drop you off at OK Bazar, fare is 7.00 pesos. From OK Bazar ask anyone to direct you where the city hall is (city hall is beside the old PNB along Pablo Lorenzo Street).

3 ways to get to Fort Pilar National Museum when you reach the City Hall 

1. Walking, you can just walk straight ahead Valderosa street (land marks, Lantaka Hotel, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Paseo del Mar
2. Take a pedicab/ traysikad, P10.00 per head
3. Take another jeepney ride,  the Rio Hondo route just along Jollibee Plaza Pershing branch and ask the driver to drop you at the Fort Pilar National Museum, fare is 7.00 pesos

Tricycle, this is the easiest way to get around town, airport to Fort Pilar will be around P40.00 – P50.00 maximum, it will depend on your haggling skills. Note: once the tricycle driver will tell you “etu ya bahala kwanto” (chavacano) “ikaw na ang bahala kung magkano” in tagalong, or in English “it’s on you to decide, how much” Never get inside the trike not settling the fare with the driver,  just to be sure you’ll have a hassle free ride.
