Sinulog Festival
The Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festival in the Philippines with a very rich history. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu (since in the Catholic faith Jesus is not a saint, but God). It is essentially a dance ritual which remembers the Filipino people’s pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity.The festival features some of the country’s most colorful displays of pomp and pageantry participants garbed in bright-colored costumes dance to the rhythm of drums, trumpets, and native gongs. The streets are usually lined with vendors and pedestrians all wanting to witness the street-dancing. Smaller versions of the festival are also held in various parts of the province, also to celebrate and honor the Santo Niño. There is also a Sinulog sa Kabataan, which is performed by the youths of Cebu a week before the Grand Parade.
Every year me and my hubby visit Cebu City to celebrate the feast of Sr. Santo Nino held every third week of January.We usually stay at Mandaue City to avoid traffic and easiness to the airport during the festival. Cebu has a lot to offer when it comes to tourism. From pristine beaches and landmarks to old churches and historical landmarks makes Cebu City a prime destination in Visayas. Whether others like it or not, the Sinulog is the mother of all festivals in the Philippines. The magnitude, scope and celebration frenzy is unmatched by any other mardi gras like celebration elsewhere.

Most probably, one of the questions you have right now is how to get to Oslob to experience the fun and adventure of Tuki watching yourself. Don’t worry, I got your back. First things first, the Whale Watching is only available from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM, therefore you might want to consider going to Oslob early to avoid the crowd of tourists usually around 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and also to have more time to explore other attractions the town of Oslob has to offer you.
